The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) is responsible for granting refugee status to those who are unable to return home due to persecution or human rights violations. It is imperative to submit a strong refugee claim to the Canadian government through the IRB to be recognized as a refugee

Understanding Refugee Claims: A Brief Overview

A refugee claim is a request for protection from the Government of Canada that is based on persecution due to one’s race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or social group affiliation. – Must prove a lack of government protection, absence of safe habitation, and a personal, non-generalized risk.
